I'm Craig, a Manchester-based textile designer, illustrator and children's book artist, with interests in many areas. I specialise in making hand-drawn illustrations and art prints that are created from my sketchbook drawings. Working in many different mediums - collage, pen and ink, and paint - I love nothing better than to design new stationery items, greeting cards, stamps, limited edition prints and even ceramics from time to time.
I presently work with my agents Yellow House Art Licensing, designing ranges of cards, motifs and items that can be placed onto surfaces such as packaging, giftware or textiles. I also work as a children's picture book author/illustrator having so much fun drawing animals and characters to keep children (and adults) entertained !
I've taught on textile design courses across the country and have a small number of private clients who wish to learn more about the basics of Photoshop and how to create textile designs and illustrations too. I also work with a collection of bespoke companies, producing multi-directional textile designs and decorated packaging for both African and European products that sell in Harrods, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Selfridges.
My inspiration often comes from unlikely sources and seems to form itself into quirky animal characters, who grow and run around in my head for a while, until they are released onto the page through my drawings. I'm usually available to take on commissions for private clients or larger organisations so please feel free to contact me, to discuss your ideas further.
Please read and follow my blog about visual design, tweet with me on twitter @wwwfishinkcouk and tell your friends who might appreciate my work or wish to have some lovely animal cards, notebooks and stationery items for themselves.
